Acrlyic work

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 15, 2008, 7:42 AM
I've been painting a lot more with acrlyics. I like them very much. They are so different than watercolors.

I'm working but I can't say I have a lot to say. I've been painting my dining room more than I've been painting pictures. But I have painted a few new pieces that will be hanging in my dining room, and that's not nothing.

Full moon in december appears in article!

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 15, 2008, 9:20 AM
I almost forgot to mention! "Full Moon in December" was part of a tree article at [link]

All I can say is, thanks so much! I am eternally grateful. When I first got started at deviantART, I had the distinct impression that I was not good enough to be seen with all these fine people. With practice and time, a lot of that has changed. I'm starting to see my major mistakes vanish and be replaced with imagination and invention. I'm not there yet, but I'm getting there and I really believe that a lot of it has to do with the amazing artists and inspirations I surround myself with here.

Trees are quite important to me. I paint them constantly and even when I'm painting something else, they appear in pictures anyway. There is something ageless, primordial about them that really gets me. Major stories hang on the balance of trees. What would Little Red Riding Hood be without the trees in the story? Or Wizard of Oz? Or Hansel and Gretel?

They are the balance, the moment, the atmosphere and the wisdom. I love painting them. Over and over and over again.

Meeting new people

Journal Entry: Thu Mar 13, 2008, 7:46 AM
How do you find new art friends in real life? I'm feeling restless and antsy to meet new people and drink coffee with some new people and talk about well, anything but including art. I've had trouble meeting new people in this sector of my life and now I'm frustrated.

I want some arty crafty hands on friends in Omaha. Hello? Anyone out there? Where are you hiding?

Illustration Friday

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 9, 2008, 5:18 PM
This is week two of participating in Illustration Friday and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. How wonderful, a community of artists coming together not to be critics and judges and snobs but to experiment on the world and congratulate each other on expanding our interpretations on the literal and fictional.

This week's topic is Garden and it is no wonder where my mind went. I was imagining dancing ants and jazz tunes billowing up from the undergrowth. The only critter not represented here is the grasshopper who I did not think of adding until I was nearly done. This one is titled "A Garden Party" and boy is it a party!

My own wish is that I had done the music differently. It works ok here but I think I'd like to have incorporated the music notes more into the painting and not just floating about aimlessly. My favorite critters are the caterpillars who are positively jazzy. The ladybugs come in a close second with their head bopping ways.

I love fantasy life, worlds built upon and within worlds. Who says that my backyard isn't rocking out right now?

She slays orcs on the weekend

Journal Entry: Thu Mar 6, 2008, 8:33 AM
I was 21 the first time I played D&D. I'm 28 years old and I own a set of dice to match any outfit I could own. Between my husband and I, we own almost all the books. We own dungeon tiles and a few miniatures. We can gather a group of players together at a moments notice to roll up some characters and slay some orcs. Mmm, nothing like slaying orcs on the weekends.

Being a girl gamer has left me with a lot of issues to overcome. I've been disallowed from playing in games because of my femaleness. Not often, but it has happened. Still, my weekends are rarely complete with out some kind of game.

I appreciate what Gary Gygax has done. It wasn't all him, but he had a big part to play. Thanks for building me a world, Gary.

How many of you game? Tell me about your experience, I'd love to hear it!
